Brenda Brawley, was a proud resident of Dallas, Texas, entered this world on July 21, 1949, and her presence shone brightly until her peaceful passing. During her upbringing she was raised by Rosa Mitchell. Throughout her remarkable journey, Brenda exemplified an unwavering spirit of compassion and generosity. Her heart was an open door, welcoming those in need with warmth and selflessness. It was second nature for her to offer her home as a sanctuary and extend a helping hand to anyone seeking solace or support. Her dedication to friendship was unparalleled, and she effortlessly fostered unity among her loved ones, often serving as the driving force behind heartwarming gatherings within her welcoming abode.
A culinary artist at heart, Brenda's love for cooking and baking was a source of boundless joy for all fortunate enough to savor her creations. Her kitchen was a place of shared laughter, shared stories, and shared love. Beyond the kitchen, her indomitable spirit touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Never one to cast judgment, Brenda's heart embraced all with unconditional love, treating each person as a cherished individual. Brenda's dedication to education was an inspiration to all who knew her. She graduated from James Madison High School in 1967, embarking on a lifelong journey of learning. She furthered her education by obtaining her Associates Degree from El Centro Community College, a testament to her unwavering commitment to knowledge. Subsequently, she pursued her academic aspirations at the University of North Texas, achieving a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in 2009. Recognizing her passion for helping others, she earned her Masters of Science in Addiction Counseling in 2011, and later obtained a second Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling in 2013, both from Grand Canyon University.
Brenda's commitment to making a difference extended beyond the classroom. She commenced her professional journey as a nurse assistant within the Dallas Independent School District, a role she fulfilled diligently for over 16 years. Her compassionate nature led her to excel in this capacity. She then transitioned to a customer service representative position at USA Mobility, where her dedication and warmth left a lasting impact.
In what became the culmination of her life's work, Brenda found her calling as a drug addiction counselor at the Judge John C. Creuzot Judicial Treatment Center. Her profound empathy, coupled with her academic achievements, allowed her to shine as she guided and supported countless individuals on their paths to recovery. She immersed herself wholeheartedly in this role, embodying her commitment to making the world a better place.
Upon her retirement, Brenda left a legacy of compassion, knowledge, and unwavering dedication to helping others. Her impact on the lives she touched remains immeasurable, and her spirit will forever inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
Brenda Brawley, 74, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on August 6, 2023. She is survived by her loving children, Marcy, Joseph Jr (Keisha), and Joseph Gerald (April), who resides in Dallas, Texas. Her grandchildren: Marquin, Kyndal, Aishe, Jakaya, Kentrell, Cameron, Keveon, Jeremiah, and Jordan. Her great-grandchildren: A'mya, Kaedyn, Chyna, Kynnedi, Karma, Khamora, Clifford, Karter, and Kyrieal. In loving memory of Samuel Garfield Young Sr, Wreather Mae Butler, Rosa Mitchell, Jack Brawley, Joseph Brawley Sr, Jaylen Brawley, and Rakisha Johnson.
