Obituary

Mr. Bobby Gene Jackson was born on May 14, 1937, to the parentage of Mancel David Jackson and Marie Helen Benton Jackson in Mineola, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024.


Bobby received his education from Mineola public schools. He pursued a career in the United States Army in the field artillery unit as a lead missile crewman. Following his military career, Bobby attended El Centro College for two years.Bobby accepted Christ at an early age. He attended various churches throughout his military career. He later became a member of the People's Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas,
Texas, where he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher until his health failed him. Bobby was a proud and faithful member of Peoples for over 52 years.


On October 6, 1990, he married Ms. LaVern Kirven Owens. Bobby was accepted not as an "in-law" to the Kirven family, but as a son and brother, uniting the two families as one. Bobby was a very kind-natured man and believed in helping others. He and LaVern took in an elderly friend of Bobby's, Mr. Sweeney Sapp, and cared for him until his death. Bobby was a mentor to youth and was actively involved in community organizations. He was a die-hard fisherman and loved to share his knowledge of fishing with others. He was a loyal member of the Sandy Creek Cemetery Association and the Limestone County Nineteenth of June Organization.


Mr. Jackson worked for the Dallas Independent School District as a Maintenance Engineer for over 25 years. He retired in 2005.
Mr. Jackson was well-recognized as an outstanding citizen and a man of his word throughout
the surrounding counties.


Preceding Mr. Jackson in death are his parents, sister Vera Jackson, two brothers, son Rev. Vernon Dell Jackson, and granddaughter Demetries Jackson.


He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted, and forever caring wife of 34 years, Mrs. LaVern Kirven Jackson, Dallas, Texas; daughters Vera King (Freddie) of Mesquite, Texas, Jo Carol Ayers of Allen, TX; son-in-law Leonard Ayers, Sr. of Dallas, TX; bonus son Alfonso Germaine Owens of Carrollton; sisters-in-law DeEvelyn Heggins and Madeline Gamble (Don) of Dallas, TX; Jacqueline Gee (Winford) of Mexia, TX; and Sharon D. Kirven, M.D. of Hewitt, TX; Bennie Kirven of Sandy, TX; brothers-in-law Otis Kirven (Pearlie) of Dallas, TX; Stelvin Kirven (Regina) of Sunnyvale, TX; Floyd Kirven and Elvin Kirven of Sandy Community; Robert James Kirven (Gloria) of Mexia, TX; and Felix M. Kirven, M.D.
(Ruth) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Quiana Walter, Keandrea Walter, Leonard Ayers II, Freddie King Jr., Fredrick King, and Camara Chivers (De'Cory); five (5) bonus grandchildren and five (5) great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and friends.
