Obituary

There are times in life when things happen and you just say, "Oh Well". Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disbelief. That is what happened to the George Family and those who loved Billy on Friday, June 22, 2018. Our lives as we know it changed.

Billy was born on March 26, 1956, in a beautiful town called Emerson, Arkansas to  Darnese and Christell (Nell) George. In Emerson, he was the man. He was loved by so many people. The phase "There is no place like home" is used many times with different meanings. Billy loved to come home! After his parents died, he made it his mission to continue to come home and fellowship with his friends and family. The love for his parents continued after their death. Memorial Day was special, he would make a plan and execute how he wanted their gravesite to look. He would have a color theme each year for the flowers and thought no one could clean the gravesite like he could.

Billy started his education at McMittress Elementary School and graduated from Emerson High School. While at Emerson High, he played basketball and was the starting point guard. He would like to say he was a pretty good player. In 1970, Billy had an accident on a friend's bicycle in Muskegon Heights, Michigan that kept him in the hospital for 40 days. A post was put in his elbow that prevented him from being able to straighten out his arm. Many believed that accident had an impact on his basketball career.

Not only did he succeed in sports, he graduated from high school in 1974 with academic honors. He later attended Bishop College and graduated with a Business Administration degree with the highest academic honor, Summa Cum Laude. Billy pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Epsilon Gamma Chapter, Spring 1976.

Billy was a member of Pleasant Home C.M.E. Church and participated in many church activities. Yes, he recited many speeches during his lifetime. He was also an active member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas.

Billy decided to stay in Dallas after graduating from Bishop College. His first professional job was with Goodyear Tire Store. His performance led him to be named the first African American manager for the Good Year Store. He left Goodyear and worked at the Dallas Housing Authority and later worked for Enterprise Car Rental where he retired on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

While working at Goodyear, he bought his first car, a 1972 baby blue Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme car. As he did with all of his cars, he drove them until they fell apart. Billy did not believe in spending money on cars. But, he would spend money on clothes. Yes, he did like to dress!!

Billy met the love of his life, Neva Pinke in 1988, and married on April 4, 1992 in Kilgore, Texas. After their union, they moved to Cedar Hill, Texas where they would establish their home and raise three beautiful children. Billy enjoyed sharing his love and competitiveness of sports with his children. He was a firm believer in education as well, and made sure to instill that in their lives.

Billy was caring and had much love for his family and friends. He was a stable financial supporter for his parents for many years. His mother once said, "I don't know what Darnese and I would do without Glen". They never had to wonder because he was always there to lend a helping hand. His legacy in the George Family will live on for many generations.

On June 22, 2018 God saw fit to take Billy home and award him for his life well lived. His memories will always be with the family as he leaves behind so many people who loved him. His parents Darnese George, Sr. and Christell (Nell George) Preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Neva Pinke- George. Their three children, Attorney Gabrielle George, Armon George, and Quentin Demond Gipson (Keisha) Three grandchildren, Ziasia, Jazilyn and Quentin Gipson II.
