Bettie Joyce Rettig Dotson was born on October 17, 1946 to Porter Rettig and Clara Richardson Rettig in Henderson, Texas. She united with West Holly Springs Church of the Living God in Laneville, Texas at an early age. Later she united with the Bethurum Church of the Living God in Dallas, Texas.

Bettie graduated from Andarko School in Laneville, Texas.

She worked at for many years at Texas Instruments and Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Bettie is preceded death by her parents, Porter and Clara Rettig; brother, James Rettig and her husband, Haywood Dotson.

Bettie Joyce Rettig leaves to cherish her memory son, Stevenson Dotson (Matanya); grandchildren, Dewaylon Evans, MayKala Evans, Jade Dotson and Stevenson T. Dotson; brother, Willie Rettig; sister, Carolyn King (Louis); uncle, Racine Rettig, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
