Obituary

Bertha Clemons was born January 18, 1950 in Marshall, TX to Ivory and Ruthie Mae Johnson. She was baptized at an early age at West Side Church of Christ in Marshall, TX. Bertha graduated from Pemberton High School in 1968. She met Narlon Clemons while attending high school. They later married in 1969. At the age of nineteen, she moved to Dallas, TX where she placed her church membership at Cherry Valley Church of Christ where she served and labored for the Lord for almost three decades.

Her most memorable jobs were as a Cosmetologist, a Cook at SMU University, an electronic board assembler at J&J Manufacturing and Carter Phone Electronics from where she later retired. Afterwards, she became a Sunday School Teacher & Counselor at Cold Springs Church of Christ.
God called Sister Bertha M. Clemons home September 12, 2022.She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ivory & Ruthie Johnson; two brothers, Jerry Johnson and James Johnson; and one sister Ruby Johnson.
She leaves to mourn her memory: her husband, Narlon Clemons; two daughters, Venita Clemons (Gerald Jones) and Marshanna Clark (Derrick); and her spiritual son, Marquis Smith (Kassia); four grandkids, Michael Willingham, Misty Clemons, De'Arius Clemons, and Brooklyn Clemons; one great granddaughter, Trinity Willingham; three sisters, MaryNell Leonard, Sherra Graham, and Elmarie Morris ( Warren); two brothers, Michael Henderson (Charlene), and Darryl Johnson (Linda); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, church family and friends. A special thank you to her sisters-in-love: Ethel, Sara, Evelyn, Barbara, Irene, and Jewel (who mentored and watched over her when she first moved to Dallas, TX. They worked together both in the church and in the civilian industry).

Sister Bertha Clemons will always be remembered and cherished in the hearts of all that she touched in this life. Her beautiful Alto voice, infectious smile and cooking will be greatly missed.
