Life Reflections of Bertha Lee Fisher Camp

What rejoicing there must have been in Heaven when Bertha made safe flight from earth to dwell eternally with her Heavenly Father above.

Bertha was born in Marthaville, Louisiana on November 1, 1921 to Rev. Joseph Fisher and Mary Lillie Wells Fisher who proceeded her in death.  Bertha was born fifth of eleven children; preceding her in death are brothers: Johnny, Earnest, Wesley, Jimmy, sisters: Mattie Johnson and Ida Lewis.

Growing up in a Christian homme, Bertha accepted Christ at the tender age of 13 and was baptized at Greenhill Baptist Church in the Marthaville community by Rev. Simmon Lilly.  In her later years, she worshipped with several churches in Shreveport, La including Pleasant Hill Baptist and Gospel Light Baptist Church.

During her early years, Bertha met and married Jesse Roy Burks and the later relocated from Coushatta, La to Shreveport taking advantage of better employment opportunities.  In later years, she married the late Gladney Camp.  Bertha was employed as head cook for many years at the Elks Club and Subway Cafe' in Shreveport.

Bertha, a real fashionista, bling lover, and trendsetter always made fashion statements wearing fancy hats, high heal shoes and real dressy outfits.  She never stopped making efforts to look glamorous.  Bertha loved life, family, flowers, cooking, gardening, traveling and her pets.

Cherishing her memory are her bonus children; Derrick, Ann, and their children, Sister: Glady's Tucker, Brothers: Ocie and Charlie Fisher, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews, and a host of dear friends.
