OBITUARY

BERT HILRED BREWER, JR.

Bert Hilred Brewer, Jr. was born on October 3, 1954 in Austin, TX.  He was the first child born to Bert H. Brewer, Sr. and Dr. June H. Brewer.  He departed this life on Wednesday June 24, 2020.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert H. Brewer, Sr. and Dr. June H. Brewer and his grandmother Minnie Harden.  He attended old L.C. Anderson High School (until integrationwas implemented in Austin in 1971) and graduated from Austin High School, Class of 1972.  He was a very talented musician and played several instruments including the clarinet (in the mighty Yellow Jacket Marching Band) and the guitar and drums(in local bands).

On August 3, 1973, Bert volunteered and joined the U.S. Airforce and served as a Ground Radio Operator for six years (with two years being served in Panama).  He was honorably discharged on August 3, 1979.

Bert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Austin, TX.  For several years, Bert was a dedicated member of First Pentecostal Church of Austin (where he played drums).  Upon relocating to Dallas, TX in 2010, Bert's health began to fail which required him to receive special assistance care from Jenny's Residential Group Care (Jennifer Ellis). While residing in Dallas, Bert was a dedicated member of Greater Dreams M.B.C.

Bert leaves to cherish his memory: son Ahmad Brewer of Los Angeles, CA; brother Charles (Cathy) Brewer of Red Oak, TX; nieces Amber and Arrianna Brewer of Red Oak, TX; nephew Charles Brewer II of Atlanta, GA; cousins June and Joi Harden of Austin, TX and friends who will miss him.
