Ardella Cole was the daughter of the late Ben and Victoria Williams. She was born in Smithland, Texas on January 27, 1928. Diagnosed with Dementia in 2013, Ardella stayed strong for many years and lived at home with her daughter Bobbie Ann Cole, until being placed in a nursing home 4 months before she died on January 15, 2022. Her son, Glenn Edward Cole was by her bedside.
A hard worker with a vision for an outstanding future that focused on making a difference in the lives of children, Ardella created a life she loved and left a legacy for her family to be proud of. She graduated from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas (now Paul Quinn College) with a Bachelors Degree in Education (K-6). Ardella also earned a Masters Degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas (now Texas A&M at Commerce.) Committed to touch as many lives as possible with kindness, positivity and hope, Ardella taught school until she was 74 years old in the Hutchins Independent School District and the Dallas Inependent School District.
Ardella was married to Phelon Herman Cole in 1953. The couple lived a good life in Dallas, Texas, until he died in 1988. They raised 3 sons (Frankie Lee Gilbert III, Carl Gilbert, Glenn Edward Cole); and one daughter (Bobbie Ann Cole). Frankie and Carl are both deceased.
One of Ardella's favorite hobbies was gardening. As a result of her passion for the beauty and tranquility that gardening provides, Ardella's Oak Cliff home won "Yard of the Month" for the City of Dallas, several times.
Ardella is survived by her: Daughter: Bobbie Ann Cole; Son: Glenn Edward Cole; Sisters: Gloria Williams, Pennie Mae Williams, and Violet Rand; Brother Robert "Sonny" Williams; Grandchildren: Marcus Goynes, Jason Cole, Justin Cole, Carl Gilbert Jr., and Dr. Veronica Cole-Yeo; Great-Grandchildren: Amber Ojo, Jaystin Cole, Kingston Yeo, and Vivian Yeo; Daughter-in-law Earnestine Dunbar-Cole; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
