Apostle Dondi Bernard Johnson
May 18, 1967 – May 19, 2025
Apostle Dondi Bernard Johnson transitioned from earthly life on May 19, 2025. Born in Los Angeles, California, on May 18, 1967, Dondi lived a fully poured out life. As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend, he modeled what it meant to live faithfully, love deeply, and lead boldly with conviction.
Dondi was the devoted husband of Teresa Ann Johnson, his soulmate and steady companion for 38 years. Married on July 18, 1987, they built a life defined by purpose and passion. Their love was sacred, authentic, and true. Their love language was"God first" and "Me and you against the world." Their covenant was one of those rare unions that transcended romance and echoed the divine will of God.
Together, they raised two children—Anastacia Johnson (Richard Johnson) and Jeremiah Johnson (Ashtah Johnson)—instilling in them humor that disarms, tenacity that endures, courage that speaks up, and faith that stands firm. He was Pop-Pop to his grandsons, Richard Johnson III and Dondi M. Johnson, and a father figure to many more.
He also leaves behind his loving parents, McBurnette Johnson and Carolyn Johnson, and his siblings, Shawn Johnson, Kayla Demouchet, and Myron Johnson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and spiritual sons and daughters who carry his legacy forward. He now joins his beloved big brother, Derwin Johnson, who went before him intoeternal rest.
For 23 years, Apostle Johnson faithfully pastored His Dwelling Place International, showing up for God's people again and again. He was a man after God's own heart and an unashamed worshipper. His presence was transformational. His leadership was sacrificial. And his love for God and people was immeasurable.
Beyond his numerous personal accomplishments, he carried an extraordinary spirit that could not be confined by borders or limitations. He didn't just preach the gospel – his life was his sermon. Whether in the pulpit, at the lunch table or in the private moments of counsel, he modeled what it looked like to walk with God. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and the leaders he equipped. He gave us more than memories—he left us a mantle.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Victory Temple Church in Dallas, Texas. Family, friends, and loved ones are welcome to honor the life and legacy of Apostle Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to simply live as he did: love God, serve faithfully, and leave people better than you found them.
