Anis LaNae Atkins (my family calls me Nisi) was born in Pamona, California on July 8, 1986 to the parentage of Wheeler Atkins, Sr. and Lorrena Jacques-Brown.
Anis attended elementary school in California. She attended middle school in Dallas, Texas and was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 2004. After graduation she furthered her studies at Prairie View A & M University where she received her associate degree in Social Work. She was employed with the State of Texas where she worked for Child Protective Services for a year and a half.
Anis accepted Christ as a young girl at Sims Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Vernon L. Barnes in Garland, Texas. She was a faithful member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas under the leadership of Marques Crosby.
Her job here on earth has been completed and she was called home on Sunday, July 1, 2012.
Those awaiting her at the heavenly gates are her father, Wheeler Atkins, Jr. and grandfather, Lawrence C. Jacques, Sr.
Those left here on earth to cherish her memories and celebrate her legacy are: mother, Lorrena Jacques-Brown; stepfather, Elvin Ray Brown; sisters, Janelle Wright and Angela Atkins-Shephard; brother, Wheeler Atkins, III; grandmother, Bobbie Jacques and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 7-7:45pm at Evergreen.
The homegoing celebration will commence on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 11:00am at Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church.
