Obituary

Angie Lee (Gray) Washington, 95, of Dallas, Texas, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024. She was born on December 25, 1928, in Jasper, Texas, to the loving Laveria Cade and the late Will Cade, loved and also raised by her grandmother,  Older Byrd Cade. She was preceded in death by her first husband, the late Alvis W. Gray whom she married on March 2, 1956.

Angie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She remarried in 2000 to Collins Washington and they enjoyed 23 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband Collins; her two daughters, Twana (Gray) Holmes and Wanda (Gray) Rodgers; her two sons-in-law, Ron Holmes and Jesse Rodgers; her four grandchildren, Joyner Holmes, Ronnie Holmes, Alexis Rodgers, and Donovan Rodgers; her stepchildren, Shirley (Leo) Wesley and William Gray; her step-grandchildren, Charie Wesley Price, Kadar Price, Konner Price, and Kaleb Price; and many other relatives and friends.

Angie had a long and fulfilling career as a LVN in the neonatal unit at Parkland Hospital. She had a passion for taking care of babies, and that same love flowed over into her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her own children, and to those she adopted as her "extra grandbabies" through her extended work career ( Elizabeth Garner, Cory Lister Brown, Naudia "Naughty" Fuller and Lanson Threats) whom she cared for as babies and adopted as her own in love. She was always there to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting hug  to all because love is what she represented to everyone, all throughout her life. She was loved by and loved her family dearly and they were her greatest joy.

Angie was known for her outspokenness, her sense of humor, and her wit. She always spoke her mind, (whether it was appropriate or not), and she was loved for it! She could make anyone laugh with her sense of humor and stories, of which she had many. She was a woman of faith and she kept her wit and belief in the power of God until the Lord called her home. She will be missed by all who knew her and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
