The Journey Begins
Angelina made her grand entrance into this life April 27, 1999 at Rose Hospital in Denver, Colorado. From that moment on and even before, began her love affair with her parents, Barbara Ann Fleming and Martin E. Phillips. Angelina in her early life was a daddy's little girl and she was able to wrap him around her fingers.
Angelina and her mother shared a special bond that remained sealed with the love and devotion that they had for one another. Her mother says Angelina, was filled with joy, an infectious smile and always a jokester, through her magnetic character many people were drawn to Angelina.
Now as many sibling relationships, Angelina and her brother Rashad were no different than any other. But, that never got in the way of their devotion to one another. Rashad was a true big brother to her; although they may go back and forth as brothers and sisters do; believe that no one else could mess with his little sister.
Angelina also, had a closeness with her grandmother, also named Angelina. For many years as mom worked, NayNay, sent Angelina and her brother off to school and was there for them at their return. They shared many moments of laughter and love, where many life lessons were taught. There was no one like her NayNay.
Faith
"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6
Angelina was christened August 6, 2000 at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Aurora, Colorado; under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend Lorenzo Stewart. As Angelina grew and lived and experienced life as it was given to her, she never forgot where her help came from; her favorite scripture being, Philippians 4: 13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
Education
Angelina was raised in Cedar Park, Texas where she attended First Foundation Pre-School, Cox Elementary, Henry Middle School and Vista Ridge High School. After graduation from Vista Ridge, Angelina and her mother moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and from there she began her first semester at Blinn College, in Brenham, Texas.
Activities and Organizations
Barbara, Angelina's mother never had too much rest, with the number of things that Angelina found herself active in. From the age of three she began cheerleading, where she went on to cheer competively for many years, attending many Regional, State and National competitions that lead her teams to Disney World in Florida six times. While at one competition Angelina was even interviewed by ESPN. Other than cheerleading Angelina took dance and was a Girl Scout in Troop 1906. While in high school she was in FCCLA, Choir, and Ready Set Teach. Angelina was a Wrestling Team Manager for the Vista Ridge Rangers and an Assistant Camp Coordinator at Camp Timberwolf.
Her Legacy
We will remember Angelina as being driven and determined; also anyone that knew Angelina knows that she was about makeup, eyelashes, other people's jewelry and her love for many types of music. But aside from the "little things" Angelina had a love for family. For her and to her "family" was through a blood line or not. We can all take a lesson from one so young, who knew that the Lord brings to us the love of family through many unexpected vessels. Therefore there are many of us who love her.
