Obituary

On May 21, 1968, Matthew Van Buren Cook and Vollie LaVerne Brown Cook welcomed their third child and only daughter, Angela Dawn. Vollie LaVerne was thrilled to finally have a baby girl. Angela's brothers Darwin and Steven were less than excited. In time however, the brothers grew to love and adore their little sister.

Angela grew up in Austin, Tx. She graduated from Lyndon B. Johnson High School. She attended Huston-Tillotson University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Angela continued her education at Central Missouri State University where she earned a Master of Science in Industrial Management. Angela worked for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler as a Grants and Contract Specialist.

While attending Huston-Tillotson, Angela pledged Zeta Phi Beta. Angela was an active Zeta, often volunteering. On one occasion Angela volunteered to serve as a chaperone. Dominick Fazarro was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas when he got word from his Phi Beta Sigma grad chapter that the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta needed a chaperone. The moment he laid eyes on Angela, he was smitten. They married on June 7, 1997. Angela and Dominick have three sons;Asante, Tsegaya, and Carmelo. Angela was the ultimate boy mom. She was truly proud of all her boys.

Angela was an active member of One Community Church - Garland.

She was a member of the One Voice Choir and Women Doing Life Together group. She served as the choir Outreach Coordinator, was faithful in women's bible study and was an avid volunteer.

Angela Dawn Fazarro peacefully fell asleep in death on Friday, February 23, 2024. Angela was preceded in death by her father Matthew Van Buren Cook. She is survived by her mother Vollie LaVerne Cook; husband of 27 years Dominick Fazarro; sons Asante, Tsegaya and Carmelo; brothers Darwin Cook (Keisha) and Steven Cook (Beatrice); "Little" Steven Cook (nephew) and Patricia Cook (niece); and a host of family and friends that will miss her take charge, no-nonsense attitude and beautiful smile.
