OBITUARY
On August 27, 1923, Alzemia Esstelle Hamilton Calloway, was born to the parentage of Bennie & Amelia Hamilton in DeRidder, LA.
Enrolled in school in Leesville, LA before her family moved to Dallas, TX in 1931. In Dallas, she graduated from Lincoln High School. In Dallas, she graduated from Lincoln High School. She attended and finished Wiley Extension College for her higher education.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in 1935 under Pastor A. C. Horton. In 1938, she joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor F. D. Bookman and was a dutiful member for 24 years. In January 1962, she joined the Riverside Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. A. H. Haggerty, later Pastored by: Reverends S. T. Tutson, Jr. and Ralph Whitehead. At Riverside, she worked as the Church Clerk for 28 years, served as a Deaconess, a Bible Teacher of the Naomi Circle, and Member of the Mission Chorus and Combine Choir.
In the community, she worked with the Dallas Council of Negro Garden Clubs. She was the President of the Perennial Garden Club, and the Corresponding Secretary of the Texas State Federation of Garden Clubs.
On December 25, 1943, she married Andrew J. Calloway in Dallas, TX. They were married for 60 years. To this union were born 5 children, 1 son and 4 daughters.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Andrew Sr., Son, Andrew Jr., 2 Grandsons, Gregory Calloway and Larry Calloway, her Parents, and 6 Siblings.
She is lovingly survived by her 4 Daughters, Alleanor Calloway Weaver, Amelia Calloway, Alicia Lee, Anita Swindell, 1 Son-in-Law, Wayne Swindell, 9 Grandchildren, Andrea (Lonndi) Gillins, Patrick (Darlene) Campbell, Paul (Regina) Campbell, Chandra Weaver, Christopher (Tramber) Calloway, Desmond (Laketra) Calloway, Dennis Swindell, Tracie Lee, and Chloe Calloway along with 12 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters, Exie Shaw and Virginia Cohen, 1 Brother-in-Law Eddie Cohen, 1 Sister-in-Law Eleanor Hamilton, and a host of beloved Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
