On August 3rd 1953, GOD the most brilliant painter this universe will ever know, sat in HIS studio working on a self-portrait. After stepping back and admiring HIS work, gifted the precious rendering to parents, Daniel Francis and Urzilia Beaujour. Port Au Prince the capital of Haiti, then received this shining star with open arms. Now join us in celebrating the Life and Legacy of GOD's creation known as The Artist, Alix Beaujour.
It didn't take long for GOD's spirit of creativity to surface in the mind of young Alix. His hand and eye for art became apparent to his family at the tender age of five. What began as a life growing up in the streets of the city playing with his siblings, quickly turned into the life of a child prodigy. By the age of thirteen he was selling his artwork to the public.
Encouraging his hunger for the arts, he became a private student under the guiding hands of French Artist, Georges Dupui. Long days of practice and fine tuning his color work were followed by formal training at the Université ABC De La Arte in Paris.
By 1978 Alix's gift having been curated and refined for twenty years, caught the eye of the Haitian government. Herman Stevenson, Minister of Tourism in the city of Miami, requested Alix's gift be unveiled in the United States. Leaving the only home he'd ever known and stepping into a land that didn't speak his language, Alix set out on what would be the beginning of a journey full of life, love, and vivid works of art.
In 1982 Alix was commissioned to paint a mural by Pastor Mark Herbner of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. It was here that he met the muse and love of his life, Helen Heads.
Three years later, they were united in marriage on June 15th, 1985. Connected by love for one another and their passion for the arts, they set out to share Alix's gift with the world. After traveling across the US selling his work, Alix and Helen decided to open an art gallery in Dallas, Texas to better display his, other local and well-known artists, talents.
The Beaujour Art Gallerie was opened in January 1997 in the heart of Oak Cliff and remained a pillar in the community as one of the best galleries to display and promote African American and other minority artist's talents. Alix and Helen believed in giving back to those who loved the arts and honored them by exhibiting their works in many local shows at the Gallerie. They worked together to increase the notoriety of their business. Alix behind the easel and Helen delivering his works to buyers with gentle, capable hands.
In 2006 Alix suffered a major stroke that required him to focus solely on his health. Laying down his gift permanently, he fought a long health battle for the next twenty years until GOD called him to rest the evening of March 10th, 2026.
He is survived by his wife Helen Beaujour, stepdaughter Michele Fields, son Jiovany Beaujour, brothers; Jean-Claude Beaujour, Jean-Robert Brice, Henry Beaujour, Tony Beaujour, Pierre- Richard Beaujour, sisters; Marise Beaujour, Flora Posy and Denise Beaujour and a host of nieces and nephews.
As we gather today to share our love for Alix, let us be reminded that our Father in Heaven is an admirer of the arts. His most precious work being our hearts. So, take comfort in knowing that Alix's good works are complete.
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them".
