Obituary

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. - Revelation 21:4

Alice Williams was born on April 1, 1933, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the fifth child of seven children from the union of Henry and Florence Bradley. She graduated from Atkins High School in Winston-Salem in 1951, and graduated from Winston-Salem University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her first teaching position was in Columbia South Carolina, and it was there that she met her future husband, Army officer James Herman Williams, Jr. They married on March 28, 1959, and immediately moved to Mannheim, Germany.

As a military wife, Alice had opportunities to teach children internationally in Mannheim, Germany and Okinawa, Japan. In December 1972, she and her family moved to Dallas, Texas. She immediately began substitute teaching for Dallas Independent School District (DISD), and in December 1973, received a permanent offer at Mark Twain Elementary, where she continued until her retirement in 2000. During her life long teaching career Alice was recognized with several awards including the "Apple for Teacher" recognition with Radio WTAP-A&P in Norfolk, Virginia and a nominee for DISD Teacher of the Year.

Alice grew up in the Church and in 1959, she rededicated her life to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in Columbus, South Carolina. In 1973, she and her family became active members of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. She served in various leadership capacities including the Deacon Board, Sunday School Instructor, Vacation Bible School coordinator, and LOGOS. Her passion for teaching was a direct reflection of her desire to be a servant of Christ

Her parents, siblings, and loving husband of 54 years preceded her in death. Alice leaves to cherish her memories and teachings to her son Michael Williams, Phoenix, AZ; daughter Linda Sampson (Ronald), Mansfield, TX; grandchildren James Bradley Williams and Bria Marsian Williams; sisters-in-law Jean Bradley, Shaker Heights, OH, and Martha Baca, San Francisco, CA; and multiple nephews and nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces.
