Alice Clara Edwards Norman, born on January 24, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to Hiram Edwards and Ethel Jackson. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and community. From a young age, Alice dedicated her life to Christ, maintaining a steadfast faith that guided her throughout her years.
Alice spent her formative years in Terrell being raised by her uncle and aunt, Cleveland and Mildred Edwards and raised as "Big Sister" to her cousins: Bonnie, Alberta, and Kathy. She moved back to Dallas and graduated from Madison High School. Her careers panned impactful tenures at Safeway and Nations Bank (now Bank of Ameri-ca), where she made a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. She retired in 2022 from Essilor Luxottica, capping a distinguished career.
Alice was a natural-born chef, known for her delicious Sunday gatherings, where her home was always filled with family and friends. Her culinary skills were matched by her genuine love, which she shared through the meals she prepared. She never met a stranger, greeting everyone with a smile that welcomed and encouraged all to feel at ease. In her leisure time, Alice enjoyed immersing herself in books and listening to Gospel, Jazz, and Soul music. As an animal lover, she will be dearly missed by her furry companions. Alice had a knack for numbers and found joy in playing dominoes and solving crossword puzzles.
Alice had a passion for togetherness, which was evident in the way she cherished time with her family and friends. She loved traveling, particularly enjoying cruises, and made countless memories with her children and grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength and comfort, often providing solace in the darkest moments, a gift that many believed to be her true calling. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, uncle, aunt, and siblings: Lois Phillips and Charles Jones. Alice leaves behind her beloved husband, Michael Norman; her children, Patrick Edwards (Catherine), Chad Saine (Ameerah), and Ariel Savage; her "siblings", Bonnie Walker, Alberta Pierson, Kathy Russell, and Michael Jones (Edna), Rickey Montgomery (Therese) and sister-in-law Sarah Jones. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, Keyshawn Williams-Bey and Denver Saine, and great grandchildren who she adored and nurtured. Alice also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who will miss her dearly. Alice Clara Edwards Norman's legacy is one of unwavering faith, culinary delight, and a profound love for family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
