Alice Faye McCoy, lovingly known as "Alice the Great," was born to Ester aand Juanita Franklin Jones on September 24, 1941, in Dallas, TX. She was a loving and hardworking mother who wanted the best for her children and loving and hardworking mother who wanted the best for her children and all the children in her family. "Alice the Great" loved spending time with all the children in her family.
After working for the City of Dallas for more than her family and friends. After working for the City of Dallas for more than 20 years, she retired on December 29, 1999. Let it be known that she did not take life for granted; she truly enjoyed the blessings of God during her not take life for granted; she truly enjoyed the blessings of God during her lifetime. One of her favorite past times was playing cards. If you didn't know the game of 1000; she was happy to teach you; playing cards were always available if you ever stopped by her home to visit and wanted to play.
She was united with Christ and baptized at an early age at the Bexar Street Baptist Church. She was a faithful member for many years of The Lord's Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Carlton Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Carlton Garrett. She later united with the St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Lelious Johnson, Senior Pastor.
"Alice the Great" entered eternal rest on August 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by Harvis L. McCoy, her parents, Ester and Juanita Jones, her four brothers: Willie Ester, Henry B., Bennie Irvin, Lonnie Jones and her son, Lester McCoy.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters, Mary Baker and Jackie Jones; two sons; Michael and Gary McCoy (Marcie); four sisters, Alene Ward (Oleander), Bonnie Sue Moore, Ethel Jones, and Marcy Jones; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and Godchildren that loved her dearly.
A memory never to be forgotten as a child "if you needed discipline; you got it right then, not when you got home." And for this reason alone: WE are made the better. We love "Alice home." We love "Alice the Great"; she will forever be in our hearts.
