Obituary

Agnes LaNetta Morton, affectionately known as "Nette" was born January 30, 1963, to Robert and Lillian Morton in Dallas, Texas. The youngest of seven, she was dedicated to take care of her family her entire life. Although the "baby" of the bunch, she kept everyone in line with her keen sense of humor, planning, patience, intelligence and questioning.

After graduating high school, she continued her education at Bishop College in Dallas. There, she was an active member of the Gospel and School choirs, Sigma Sweethearts, as well as a part of the Baptist Student Union. She was heavily involved in the Lyceum Choir for several years, visiting churches and touring around Dallas singing praises to God.

She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Gaines Chapel AME Church where she took pride as the financial secretary, being involved in the North Texas Missionary Society as well as an active member of the L.L. Morton Missionary Society. Later, Nette became the President of the Lay Organization and a Steward of the church. Being active in the church gave her a sense of peace and closeness with God. She was a member of the AME church for over 50 years. In the church community, she was known as "Sis. Morton's daughter" while taking her mother to various church functions around town.

Being a servant leader and natural born caretaker, she devoted life to help raise her niece and nephew, Nijia' and Robert as her own children, taking pride in everything they wanted to achieve and accomplished. Nette worked in retail, helping women feel good about themselves for over 30 years, working for Lane Bryant and later at JC Penny where she retired after almost 20 years of service to the company.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian L. Morton, brothers Paul Reynolds and Gary Reynolds.

Mourning her life are siblings: Charles Reynolds (Shirley), James Reynolds, Cheryl Gibson (Ray) and Carol Morton-Dillard; special nieces- Nijia' Thomas (Andre), Cherylynn "Rae-Rae" Gibson and Karalyn "Kae-Kae" Gibson, special nephew Robert Morton and her grand-nephew, Andrew "AJ" Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memory a host of other nieces, nephews, family, church family and special friends.
